Montgomery's Planning Commission holds a hearing Thursday, Oct. 22, on a building for construction and demolition debris at 1401 North Decatur Street, by Newtown.
A plan for a construction and demolition debris building on North Decatur Street, at the edge of the Newtown neighborhood, goes to a public hearing Thursday.
It is the first item on the Montgomery Planning Commission agenda for Thursday, Oct. 22. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 103 N. Perry St.
What is proposed
The agenda lists:
- Case: DP-1979-252, a development plan
- Applicant: AMT PC, representing 121 Disposal Company
- Proposal: “a new building for C&D disposal,” meaning construction and demolition debris
- Address: 1401 North Decatur Street
- Zoning: M-3, the city’s General Industry district
The agenda does not give the building’s size, its hours or how much material it would handle.
121 Disposal’s own website lists roll-off containers, commercial and residential trash pickup and recycling among its services.
Where the site is
The address sits at the southwest corner of the area the city’s neighborhood map assigns to the Newtown Legacy Association, north of downtown. The property is already zoned for general industry, so Thursday’s hearing is on the development plan, not a rezoning.
Also on Thursday’s agenda
The commission will take up 17 other items. They include:
- a request to rezone 41.66 acres at the southwest corner of Ashley Road and West Boulevard, for J. M. Wood Auction Co., from store and single-family zoning to M-1 light industry
- a request to rezone 14.51 acres near Chandler Street and Parallel Street, for RC Yard Properties, to M-3 general industry
- a new Alabama State University building at 915 South Jackson Street, plus paving work across the campus
- a new four-story hotel at 7613 Wasden Court
- a new restaurant building on Chantilly Parkway, about 1,155 feet south of Eastchase Parkway, with a plat filed as Culvers Plat No. 1
- a building addition at Stivers Ford, 4000 Eastern Blvd.
- a new office building for Hinkle Metals & Supply at 424 East Fred D. Gray Ave.
- a request to rezone 1.94 acres near Luverne Street and Greyhound Street for the TS Morris Youth Intervention Organization
On the rezonings, the commission makes a recommendation. The agenda words each of them as a “request recommendation for approval,” which then goes to the City Council.
