Where it is
The city’s plan sets the edges: Mount Meigs Road on the south, Upper Wetumpka Road on the north, the abandoned Central of Georgia Railroad on the west and Federal Drive on the east. Madison Avenue and North and South Capitol Parkway run through it. The plan says one neighborhood organization represents the whole planning area; the city’s directory lists it as the Capitol Heights Civic Association. All of the association’s mapped area is in ZIP code 36107, by the city’s ZIP code layer.
The plan cites a 2000 census count of 2,911 people in Capitol Heights. Current citywide figures are in our population guide.
The city’s historic district brochure says owners of historically designated property need a Certificate of Appropriateness before exterior changes. The Land Use Division, 334-625-2722, can say whether an address is designated.
